Hope our government can care about our lives!!

It’s been two years since Biden took office. Is it worse and more desperate than two years ago if we look around the living conditions today?

Let’s see the data below:

Two years ago, the price of eggs was $1.5 per dozen and it won’t exceed $2. But now it’s $8 per dozen in supermarkets. It costs four times more than 2 years ago.

Two years ago, gasoline was under $3 at California, now it’s around $4.5 at most gas stations. It was unthinkable that the price could rose to $6 not long ago.

Two years ago, SoCal Gas was charging 39 cents per term for natural gas; now, the latest price is 344 cents per therm. It’s 8.8 times higher than January 2021.

Two years ago, the inflation was about 2.5%; now, it’s 6.5%. It was higher some time ago that approaching 10%.

Two years ago, the lowest 30-year mortgage rate was 2.5%; now, the lowest is 6.5%. It’s 2.5 times than what it was 2 years ago.

…… There is no need to list anymore! These figures for food, clothing, housing and transportation is enough to show a lot about the United States today.

It’s time for the midterm elections now, the two parties that take turns in power in the United States are listing each other’s faults and attacking each other.

But do they really care about our lives?

Of course, while the election campaign was going on, both Republicans and Democrats had made many nice words and promises to us for the votes.

Can we take their words seriously?

If the politicians’ promises are true, then why are we having a much harder time today than two years ago?

Moreover, why do the government and politicians just leave a bad impression that they are “ignoring, downplaying and concealing the truth” when facing major unexpected incidents?

The train derailment and fire accident that occurred a few days ago in East Palestine Township, Ohio, derailed or damaged 50 carriages. 11 of the 20 carriages which carrying hazardous materials derailed, including 5 carriages carrying vinyl chloride.

Vinyl chloride is a carcinogenic colorless gas, and the phosgene and hydrogen chloride produced by its combustion are also toxic gases. In addition, there are many other dangerous chemicals in the carriages.

The authorities handled the situation by draining the vinyl chloride out and burning it, which producing a large amount of black smoke that filled the sky.

After that, state, local and federal officials jointly announced that the air pollution index of the area where the accident located, and the nearby residential areas was always below the level that required safety screening. The evacuated residents were safe to go back home.

Our government and the politicians who seek for our votes are responsible to explain to us: when the smell of chemicals is still strong and people have headaches and other symptoms after breathing the chemical-smelling air, why do you still announced that people could go home safely. Meanwhile, it was reported that many animals were sick or dead in East Palestine over the past few days. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources reported that a large number of fish died in certain local waters due to the chemical spill.

Actually, our expectation is very simple. We hope our government can care about our lives!
